Let the gorgeous and glamorous Pink Sands Resort on Harbour island in the Bahamas, inspire your inner mixologist this summer…. Their signature Frozen Pinky cocktail from the hotel’s Blue Bar is heavy on the rum, tropical juices and conjuring up images of idyllic beaches, hammocks, and R & R in the sun. Pink Sands… where the beach and this drink, blush the delicate color of vin rosé, and after a few of these, you will too.

Take it from the island experts at Pink Sands on how to make a tropical elixir at home… see recipe below and more about the resort. Cheers!

Frozen Pinky

1.5 oz. Bacardi Limon

½ oz. Triple Sec

1 oz.each. Cranberry and Pineapple juice

A Squeeze of fresh lime juice

Mix in blender with ice until thick and delicious, garnish with fresh orange slice, cherry and serve!

ABOUT PINK SANDS: The 25 pastel cottages may have a hot designer – and even hotter celebrity guest list – but this resort is all about being cool. Biba founder – and 60’s style maven – Barbara Hulanicki mixed Indian, Moroccan and Balinese elements into a giddy new cocktail when she did the interior design for the resort. A-listers have all been spotted among the mirrored throw cushions and teak lounging sofas. Yet this retreat maintains its relaxed air, far from the paparazzi, feverish fans and nouveau snobbery. This tropical 18-acre haven stands beside its namesake, the glamorous and legendary three-mile strip of pink sand on Harbour Island in The Bahamas. Dine on gorgeous conch salad at the trendy beachfront Blue Bar or Garden Terrace restaurant, take a dip in the pool, pick up tennis, indulge in a spa treatment or just lay in the pink sands. www.pinksandsresorts.com

Rain Forest Adventures Dominica Electrifies with the Launch of Southern Caribbean’s Highest Zip Line

Located within a mountain cloud forest at the edge of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, Rain Forest Adventures at Dominica launches the new Gorge Zip Challenge. Opened this September, the zip challenge reigns supreme with the Southern Caribbean’s highest zip line. The six-platform course navigates three adrenaline-pumping lines through the rainforest canopy - the highest and most exciting is a ride over the 350 ft Breakfast River Gorge!

Today, five Rain Forest Adventures parks are located in Costa Rica (Pacific and Atlantic), Saint Lucia, Dominica and Jamaica, serving as wildlife reserves and ecotourism attractions. Now, Rain Forest Adventures Dominica is introducing the “Nature Island’s” most exciting sustainable tourism project in recent years. The launch event was held on September 30th in the island’s capital Roseau with the Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Ian Douglas, the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association and the Discover Dominica Authority, and is open to the community. The Gorge Zip Challenge will also be the eco-adventure park’s first year-around attraction, entertaining hotel and cruise guests, as well as island residents.

The Gorge Zip Challenge is accessible from the park’s signature Rain Forest Aerial Tram or by the Chatannier Nature Trail. From the park’s top station, visitors receive a safety briefing and orientation, and then take a short walk to the first platform and a 125 ft zip line. The second zip line (250 ft) takes riders higher yet and is followed by a 40 ft rappel to the ground. The highlight of the experience: an 810 ft cable suspended over Breakfast River Gorge, a 350-foot cavernous drop flourishing with plants and waterfalls. The Suspension Bridge over Breakfast River Gorge offers a breathtaking view both above and below, as the new zip line will cross overhead. Rainforest covers 60% of the islands and here adventurers can discover plants and wildlife usually hidden in rainforest treetops with the Aerial Tram.

The exceptional combination of attractions such as the Tram ride, Bobsled and Zip Line plus the experience, training and commitment of a multi-lingual and naturalist guides guarantees an educational, adventurous and unforgettable experience for guests.

Admission to the zip line begins at $50 EC per person for Dominica residents and $50 USD for island visitors. Children must be 12 years or older to ride, with some restrictions.
